Check the status of fires in the West before hitting the road.

Coyote Chris is on his way to the Osh Kosh (WI) EAA Event and asked me to post that there is a fire close to Miles City, MT. With a quick check, I noticed a fire close to Yellowstone East Entrance as well. Fire problems are affecting roads in Canada as well.

Just saying that it may be prudent to check your route for fire operations/smoke before you go.

Be safe and enjoy!

I saw a lot of aircraft in the distance dropping fire retardant on my way up from NatSTOC to ND, then west to WA, then south to San Jose, CA where I am visiting my brother.

Just got back from Alaska and we rode in a smokey haze all the way from Whitehorse thru Glacier and Yellowstone and across Wyoming. Also many road closures and detours in Canada.

Jim,
Glad to hear that you made back from AK ok. Tell us about the trip.

Just got back from an overnight fly-fishing trip on Beckler River. Here's two pictures that show what it is like...and this is a really good day since the smoke came in.

If its that clear, I might get to Mt Baker yet! All our mts have disappeared! Chris, how are you posting pics here?

Google, the evil empire.

Steps
  1. Upload pictures.
  2. Put into "shared" album.
  3. Open picture in the size of window you want to display.
  4. Right-click and select something like "Copy Image Location".
  5. Back on the window for the forum, type "
    ".
  6. Paste the link in between the code.

Chris

Thanks! I will try it....

We had smoke up at Kaslo BC but now here in Spokane, things are clear......but if the wind changes, we are doomed.
Russia fights Siberian wild fires with super tankers cause they are very remote, but Canada doesnt have the resourses
to fight major remote fires, so these will burn till winter.....I hear anything from 250 to 1000 fires are going up there.
Its smokey in Kaslo again. Here are the road closures in BC.... :(
