First Ride 2019

I would try to attend an event if it was in MO or AR.
I've kicked around an idea for several years about trying to put together an event for the group in the Branson, MO/Northern AR area. Lots of activities and good riding. I just never found the ambition to pursue it. Perhaps if there was enough interest.....

Further thoughts on the bike, Joe? How many liters are the bags each?
Love the bike.. has the lightweight feel of the v-strom I had but smoother and doesn't gulp gas when you approach 75mph.
The range is still in the 170-180 area before you must stop... so I just shoot for 150 so my math is easy on rides and gives me some buffer in case I can't find something then.
The bags are 22L each and are on the small range but I have a Givi V46 top box so between those 3 I can pack what I normally do without any issues.
I did over 200 miles of AR twisties with a pretty aggressive group on Sat and on the Super Ten I'd be pretty tired with all the downshifting but I could have done 200 more on this bike and still felt just fine.
I may see about getting a Terry Adcox seat in the future but the stock seat isn't bad for 400 mile stretches but you do start to feel it a little and I like a seat I can do 1000 miles on.

My folks lived about 40 miles from Harrison (on Table Rock Lake just north of the Arkansas line. I didn't ride motorcycles then, but did lots of good bicycle miles. We had a COG Rally in Mt Home in '03, and had a good time there. I'd probably try to make it to a NW Arkansas rally.

May is sorta taken... June is also... July/Aug gets pretty hot... Sep or Oct are good times... might still be warm but shouldn't be too bad...

Thanks! I am trying to imagine a bike smoother than my '17 Vstom. I would imagine that others have found out ways of putting on larger panniers. 29-30 L is about as low as I would go anymore. The 900 GT cant be ignored for our group and their needs. Right engine size, right weight, cruise control. Not the prettiest bike around and no shaft but there is no such thing as the perfect bike....yet....

The FJR bags will fit and some have just purchased the FJR bag lids to get more space.. I can't remember what that pushes it to... I over pack on every bike I've had.. bringing stuff that I don't really NEED.. but think I might and end up never using some of it. The way I think is I'm on a bike so if I really did need something I can always hit a store along the way, and it's never really that important.. to me.

OK, so if I understand you, the FJR lids will fit on the existing GT bags much like the NT "Big Lids" fit on the original NT bags? An FJR OEM pannier is 30L. Interesting. I certainly dont have to worry about over packing....I dont really need the second tank bag on top of the canoe.....

Yes, the lids are riveted on so you have to drill those out and re-rivet.. Some just buy entire FJR bags as the mounting is identical.
