Three day 6 hour mini series on the history of Harley Davidson. On the discover Channel. Starts Monday Sept 5 - Wednesday Sept 7. I believe its is on at 9PM est. It should be interesting even if you are not a Harley fan
Some of you maybe interested in this link. The motorcycles used in the show, approx 100 of them, were custom made by a builder in South Africa. Rather than taking a modern motorcycle and doctoring it to look like a vintage motorcycle he built them from scratch.
A DVR makes viewing the few programs I like easier to watch (at my time choice + skipping commercials). I know I spend too much on TV, but since I not able to ride it sure helps the day pass.
The H-D was very well done, I hope this is just a start of the history of motorcycles. I really like to see a BMW, and Honda series.
thanks warren for heads up series. but had just saw ads on discovery day before so right then I set to record on dvr. amazing what those early days of m/c was like. would have like to seen past year 1943
My wife DVR'd the series for me which I plan on watching this weekend. I think stopping in '43 allows them to produce part two later on if the series is popular.
[...was like. would have like to seen past year 1943...]
There really wasn't a motorcycle or car business until the wars ended in 1945. And for the next few years after that, the bikes and cars were
1940-42 models they recycled as "new." At least in the cars, it wasn't until 1948-49 when they started to come out with truly new models.
I think they ended in 43 as that was the last of the original founders involvement with the company. I believe they all died in the 40's. They mentioned that the knucklehead was the last release they all did together. The show was as much about the founders as it was about the company.
