New wind speed record this morning. 75 mph. 74 is cat one hurricane. 60,000 without power..one third of my little power company alone. 33,000 . One third of its customers.

I don't think you had a true hurricane in Spokane as it lacked the rotational aspect of a true cyclonic storm. It was just a freak storm fed by a cold front reacting with an atmospheric river. I hope that there were ways that the PNW could sequester that moisture as it would come in handy during the dry season.

Correct. But wind speed is wind speed and trees dont care, it seems....one dead so far. Ran my Honda Generator for five hours and lit a fire as the house temp dropped. Then Lights on at 5:20 pm. Snow tomorrow. Then a much more minor wind event. We have been here for all these events plus ice storm 1996.

2015. No power for 4 days. A friend loaned me a Honda generator....I lost two big spruces.

Let's have good thoughts for Chris's camp ground.

Wow!! Those straight line winds are unbelieveable and over such a wide spread area. This would surely qualify as a derecho. We had one in north Missouri several years ago and it wiped out barns, silos and other high profile structures over a multi-county area. Southern Iowawas affected by this storm also. Mother Nature is awesome in her anger.

Yeah, with the down sloping winds along the front range here in Colorado, Xcel Energy decided to kill electric power prior to the high wind arrival. So I, among with 100,000 plus others lost power (for me, from 10:00am last Tuesday until early Thursday and again Friday from 6:00am until Saturday at 8:00am).
