MSTA STAR 2020 in Cape Giradeau, MO

The official days are June 7-11, Monday to Wednesday and the host hotel is the Drury Plaza. STAR moves to a different location each year, although Lexington KY and Avon CO are the only sites that have been used more than once.

The event officially starts on Sunday around 6 PM with a welcome gathering at the hotel. Attendance is usually somewhere between 300-to-400 so it's not a mega-event like Americade, Wing Ding or the HOG national. "Kicking tires" (checking out bikes in the parking lot) is great because almost every brand is represented - even H-D - although I've yet to see a Royal Enfield. The preponderance of bikes are either sport touring or pseudo-ADV bikes. There are seminars almost every night except Weds when they have the final banquet, plus multiple ride routes are provided for each of the days so people just find a small group and ride with them. There is a designated lunch ride locale on Tuesday and this is an optional choice but we always go. We sometimes have the Honda demo truck at STAR and it's related to the demo truck being between bigger events with STAR's locale right in the middle. Last year, they came to STAR in Bristol, VA. There are only a handful of vendors and honestly it's not a lucrative setting for vendors since 98% of us are off riding for most of the day. The grand finale is the banquet on Wednesday night where they give out awards, name the raffle bike winner and we hear our keynote speaker.

The hotel is now accepting reservations (we have a bloc of rooms) but event registration won't open for another week or so, and you'll need to be a member to get the group number for those rooms. For many years, a group of us (including 3 NTs!) have been arriving on Friday to have extra-fun and leaving on Thursday morning. I've been attending STAR regularly since 1999 and have only missed one or two in that time. Deb & I usually help in Registration on Sunday when it can get crazy busy! Phil came to STAR when it was held in Colorado Springs and I'd guess other posters to NT-owner's website ave been at other STARs but I don't know them personally.

Sounds like fun. I may look into it as by then I will be officially retired!
 
I enjoyed the MSTA STAR rally in Colorado Springs. But I enjoy smaller gatherings more. That's why I'll pass on Cape Girardeau for North Bend and Spearfish.
 
I enjoy both types as they each have their nice points. STAR is the one time of the year when I see lots of longtime pals who live too many states away. :)

You must have forgot I made it to STAR in 2014 in Rapid City. I should renew and try to make more of their rides. They have some good ones this year.
 
I only vaguely remember you being there because it seems you didn't stay long, plus you and your pal were always out riding in different directions. :)
