Well not technically a motorcycle it is a cycle with a motor. Light weight and with a 10-speed transmission. It’s my Trek e-bike

I went to an e-bike demo with absolutely no intention of buying anything. I tried this thing out and was quite impressed. For me it’s a game changer.

Weighs in at just under 40#, and has a fun factor way beyond my expectations. Of course I spent a half a day customizing it to my liking, but that didn’t break my bank. So for those of us senior riders looking to extend their riding activities I recommend taking a look at one of these machines.

Congrats! I've had a Trek mountain bike for years. Good stuff! I gave it to Mike Jr and now he's abusing it. I may have to look at an e-bike..

I think many hunters down here use E-bikes to access areas that are off limits to other vehicles. I believe there is an E-bike power limit on many wildlife management areas.
I used to ride regular bicycles, something for me to think about also.

Ya, many states are struggling with regulations on these ever evolving bikes. Basically there are 3 classes. Class 1 is peddle assist only (no throttle). Motor is limited to 20 mph but you can peddle faster. The more advanced ones can go up to 28mpg and some have throttles so you don’t even have to peddle. Bigger motors and batteries too. And weigh more than double my 39#. And cost up to 5 or 6 times more.

I too used to do a lot of riding (and some citizen racing too). With this e-bike I can ride like I used to do 30 years ago. I don’t really notice the weight so much when riding but I sure do when moving it around. And I don’t mind the 20mph limit. I no longer race or even ride that fast. I can enjoy the scenery more at 12-15 mph. I’m still amazed at the capabilities this bike has.

That looks like it's a very fun ride. I like the 40 lb weight also. Something to think about...

I like the folding ones w/o wire wheels. 100s at Oshkosh.. My e scooter has 100-200 miles on it at Oshkosh.

Bought one of these at Costco to take in Motorhome for Oshkosh. I put 40 miles on it around the event property (not allowed in the display areas). Three speed settings 9.6, 15 and 20 mph. Posted speed limit is 10 mph. Good for the purchase purpose but to slow for roads.

Ya, portability is a good thing in your situation (as long as the weight is handleable). Sounds like it served you well.
But Chris would most definitely need a bigger luggage rack if he had one.

Some of the issues that I’ve heard from folks who bought a “budget brand” off the internet can’t get anyone to service them. The electronic controllers can be complex and many insurance companies won’t permit non-UL listed versions in structures they insure. Not an issue unless the battery catches fire. 🔥

Yeah, the folding ones with Li Ion bats are only $400 on line but at the local stores they are closer to $1200.
Mine is lead acid and I have replaced the bats but they are cheep.

This is the hot setup for OSHkosh. It folds in two different directions and is light and fits in cars.

Here is my current ride. The seat is ill eagle so I had to buy it separately. There are 12 years worth of stickers on it. Folds well. I use it about 10 miles a year. Takes 2 cheep lead acid bats.

Now that’s a low COG
Correct. And it is perfect for Osh, where you have one mile of paved road full of about every type of vehicle you can imagine and people in a 10 mph speed zone. And one mile back to camp. Personally, I find it hard to ride standing up. Many of the e bikes for sale at Osh did have these wonderful soft seats.
