Red!

Side by side.
On the left is BMW R1300 RT (just like mine)
And on the right is the Triumph Tiger 900 Sport Touring.

These bikes were at the dealership where I was having my 500-mile service done. The Triumph is 100# lighter and costs half as much. I talked to the owner and we both love our motorcycles. I was late getting back on the road to home so I got on I 35 and set the cruise at 90. (about with the flow of traffic). The speedometer is about 3 mph higher than my Garmin so actual speed was 87. The RT wasn’t even half way to red line and Fuel mileage was 50 mpg.

...and with the GS911 unit, you can adjust the displayed speed. I did that on my 1250RT and 1250GSA and they are within .5 mph display vs garmin.

I’ve owned this BMW R1300 RT for only 8 days now and have about 850 miles on the clock. I must say that I’m super impressed with it. From the demo ride to riding the one that I bought, the performance, handling, features (complexity), and function are most impressive. I’ve never enjoyed any motorcycle more.

I’m planning a ride out west with 2 brothers-in-law. One of them recently bought a Gold Wing and the other one an Ultra Classic. All 3 of our motorcycles were about the same purchase price. It will be interesting comparing them. At 600# (top case removed) mine is lighter than the others by about 200#. But I’ve already noticed that it handles adverse winds very well. Also riding in our recent heat I was always able to find a sweet spot in airflow noise and cooling. I added a tank bag, pannier liners arrive today, crash bars on order.

Putting this bike up on the center stand is easy because it has a system that raises the suspension when the center stand is deployed. The suspension also adjusts to programmable settings while riding. This bike is smart enough to fix many of my mistakes. If I forget to downshift at a stop it will do it for me. But it doesn’t have a coffee maker. Maybe the Gold Wing does. I’m anxious to meet up with Mellow to learn/understand more. I need a good navigation app that can download GPX files. I just tried Kurivger but it is in German. I’ll have to look for some tutorials.

For a Bavarian Tractor this thing is amazing. One negative is that the BMW Sport Touring forum and the BMW Owners of America forum are not as good as this one. Thanks Mellow! This forum and friends here will remain my #1 choice.

I haven't found anything that replaces the garmin xt. By this time next year you'll probably know all you need to.. lol Glad to see you're liking the bike.
