strikers and non closing pannier

hello following the need to replace both panniers on the Deauville due to the mother of all potholes cracking the hell out of my panneir covers (large)
i am unable toclose one side with the replacement ones.
can you tell me oplease the strikers on each side (which i have new ones just in case) are the ones on the left different from the ones on the right?
they all seem to be the same if that makes sense. so my left side wont close but right side does.

any help is appreciated

Strikers are identical left to right...
Likely the inboard swiveling hooks grappling them are not in the 'open' position... might try rotating them with a flat screwdriver...
What also helps is shimming the strikers with nylon washers so the reach deeper into the inboard side...
Worst case: the mounting tabs holding the rail with the mechanism inside are broken*, so the bracket moves away/inward when you push the strikers against it...
(* I've replaced both gray inboard parts on my GF's '07 NT700VA over this; now the lids close easily with two fingers... )
