I am rather envious. We don't have scenery like that here in Oz.
This is more typical of our ancient continent. This picture was taken near Broken Hill.
The view was exactly the same looking the other way.

Out on the winding East Road between Florence and Hamilton,
Whilst I was stopped to take that picture, a Road Train went past. It was the only other vehicle I saw for an hour or so.Damn, that is one hell of a drag strip.. i bet with faring set to low and me tucked behind it, I can get my NT to 150mph![]()
I've seen pix of the Aussie road trains. IIRC, it is a road tractor with multiple trailers behind, right? Is there a limit in OZ on the number of trailers that can be towed legally? Here in Missouri they are limited to two trailers.Whilst I was stopped to take that picture, a Road Train went past. It was the only other vehicle I saw for an hour or so.
I waited until it was out of sight as I wanted the empty road.
I don't remember seeing any wildlife either!

Missoula, Spokane, etc used to fill up with smoke in the winter on a regular basis during inversions. Spokane county had 50,000 non EPA wood stoves. Now all new stoves must be EPA approved in Spokane County. And clean air polution monitors. Once in awhile a stove ban in the control zone but not often now. I love my heat a lator.I remember when Missoula was a podunk lumber town with a rural college. They had so many "teepee burners" in the area the valley was nothing but smoke. It was not a nice place in the early 60's until the mid 70's when "teepee burners" caught the attention of the EPA. I see they saved one for the museum. See Here Then the left coast discovered the area and it really went down hill...![]()

LOL! Me TOO! The real term is Tipi-Burner...but I never knew why they existed....I'm glad you 'splained "teepee burners" for me because that term was new to me.![]()
They must have detach points right off the interstate cause there is no way in Chicago you could make a turn in a town.In Oregon they can pull three trailers. Cant be safe. In any sort of cross wind they get blown all over the road.
Road trains are restricted to the outback areas where there are few turns and little traffic. In Victoria, where I live, the largest vehicle allowed on our Arterial (major suburban) roads is a "B Double" which is a prime mover pulling a half trailer and then a full length trailer. They must have detach points right off the interstate cause there is no way in Chicago you could make a turn in a town.
