Wind screen cleaner.....

It was my motorcycle helmet.
We've gotten ourself such head-caps... breathable transtex, easily washed by hand, fast drying...

Helmet liners are expensive and hard to clean...

Well, we old men must be special cause we dont stink! I never have smelled my riding clothes.

Ouch, that oily stuff is likely bad for breathable fabrics, membranes and textiles in general... and it makes everything sticky...
(I once made the error of applying it on velours car seats... took quite a session with an extraction vacuum (like wet carpet cleaning) to get that out again...)

Oh, the stank is there. You old dudes just have dulled senses from time, smell included. If you have the great fortune of riding in the USA's Koppen Cfa sweat doesn't dry in the summer, it creeps down crevices and pools in areas. I can't pressure wash everyday, so those areas get nuked with Febreeze.

As far as Febreeze destroying mesh textiles. Maybe ..? Nothing has disintegrated yet. Besides, knowing my history pavement will burn through riding pants long before Febreeze. :D

I do ride with helmet liner caps. Mainly cause it keeps my ears from folding up squeezing past helmet speakers.

I use Helmet Fresh periodically and also remove the helmet lining and hand wash in a sports detergent designed for synthetic fabrics that tend to get sweaty, works good. I also have a new set of helmet liners ready to go if/when the old ones wear out.

Which is why I (and ze GF) wear long sleeved/legged functional underwear, breathable, transporting humidity out/away from the skin, quick drying, so can be washed every evening at the overnight destination...

For the record, I haven't ridden in Austria.. but reading y'all's typical climate I don't think we're talking same sweat levels here. There isn't any "humidity transport" with Koppen Cfa July-mid September. I don't care how much fancy wicking undergarments you got. Everything is getting and staying drenched until the sun goes down.

Imagine getting geared up on your ST1100 and ride it into a sauna.

Riiiiight! A few years ago I noticed an odor in my clothes closet. I checked the bottoms of my shoes and boots, jacket pockets, etc. A long search revealed the source. It was my motorcycle helmet.
Boots....yes....nothing else I have stinks....

Correct. The constant rain in Austria made filming "Sound of Music" problamatic. Rain is an issue in Japan also....in Spokane, at 15 percent humidity and no rain for three months during riding season, you dont swet....you just loose water. Now when I was encarcerated for 40 years in the Midwest, whole different kettle of fish.....

Humidity, or lack of is one of many reasons I live here on Colorado's Front Range. However if I had to do it all over again in my life I would live and ride in the Alps. The rain is just the payment one has to pay to ride the Alps on a regular bases.

I picked up a spray bottle of 'Simple Green'....it works fairly well. Hopefully it won't harm any parts.

simple green ... I'd be cautious... I've heard of people having issues with that on other parts - I have no details nor have I ever used it so could just be something mixed in my head.

The best cleaner I've used is a towel soaked in water and just lay it on the screen to soak any bugs/etc... then honda spray polish... just as good as plexus but nowhere near the cost.. as @Coyote Chris says, you can get the smaller cans too that make it more convenient and less costly than Plexus.

There is a product made by Seafoam called Bug Off. Do not!!! use this on motorcycle winwindshields!!!
