The 023's rear tire is a dual compound the front is a single. I had the 023's on my bike for two seasons now and they still have legal tread on both front and rear. Bought a new set to put on this winter just because new round tires are so much nicer feeling.

Put a new set of the 023's on. (The second) At sticker time in spring the wear on the rear tire got pointed out to me. I knew about it and it was not that bad but decided to get round ones again. Both front and rear showed a lot of cupping but where still legal when they got tossed.

I've had three BT 23's on my bike and average just over 10,000. My sense is the PR 3's are the best for mileage but they are a pricier. I'm comfy with my BT's.

These are the details of my replacement tyres. I bought the bike new with BT021 fitted:

23/03/13 New front tyre BT023 (28609KM - 17780 miles on the old one)

08/09/12 New rear tyre BT023 (the last one seems to have done 27106kms - 16846.5 miles).

18/06/11 New front tyre BT023 (Odometer 18802km, 11685 miles)

26/11/10 New rear tyre BT023 due to a non-repairable puncture (10,505km - 6529 miles)

I was at Iron Pony last weekend and they had an immense pile of BT023s that were on sale. The front/rear combos didn't match the sizes on the NT but I'm sure you could have talked them into giving you needed at the same price. They were around $158 for a pair.

My rear BT023 started to cup at around 6-8k and the noise drove me nuts so I swapped it out a few weeks ago for an Avon Storm 2 Ultra ($145). I could have ridden it further but I wanted to start the season with a new tire. The BT023 lasted 10.1k miles and still had a thousand miles left but that's only a guess. It's nice to ride once more without hearing any tire noise. :)

ps. the BT023 has been replaced by the T30 but no where in their promo does it mention longer mileage.

I currently have a T30 (on the rear) and a BT023 (on the front). I'll give feedback on the longevity of the T30 when I change it.

First impression of the T30 is that it gives better grip than the BT023

I have a tough time evaluating the grip available with a new tire since the old tire was on there for +10k miles so I'd long since forgotten how if felt when new. And at 10k miles it was pretty much toast so for me, I'd need two identical bikes with different tires then test them on a curvy road only a few minutes apart. That would be a true apples-to-apples comparison.
