On my daily commute to/from work, I pass a small barn in field. It is on a road appoaching exit 96 on the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 80/90). Since last summer, they affixed a sign to the barn:

It reminds me of all such signs I saw in heading to the first NT rally. Strange to see it here since I am convinced that most folks around here have never heard of Wall Drug!

We'll have to do a loop through the Badlands this summer and stop at Wall Drug for their Free Ice Water.

Also, pick up your free "Don't Miss WALL DRUG Wall, South Dakota ________Miles" sign. You fill in how many miles you are from Wall Drug.

Mine came to 558 miles (You just KNEW I had one, didn't you?!?!?).

It is difficult to be on I-90* without counting down the miles to Wall Drug.

*apparently you don't have to be on I-90.

Forget the free donut and buy the pie. :p

That's pretty cool. Have you asked them if the distance is "as the crow flies" or "real road miles" ?
Wouldn't know who to ask but I think it has to be as crow flies despite its vicinity to the I 80/90 road. I think I logged over 1100 to get to the NT rally in 2011.

Wall Drug didn't have much to recommend it in the 60s and 70s, but it's a fun place (for a brief visit now).

There used to be a place in Oklahoma that was advertised by old refrigerators sitting in fields with the name and the distance to arrival, but I'm totally blank about where it was. Seems like it was in SE Oklahoma.

Stopped at Wall Drug for the first time on our honeymoon in Oct, 1966. We retraced our honeymoon (Yellowstone, etc.) for our 30th anniversary and the folks at Wall Drug said that the only thing that keeps them going in the winter are the "newly weds" and "nearly deads"!

It looks pretty good. How does it compare to the city campground in Spearfish?

I went there in September 2011. It's worth a stop. I met this pretty lady there in one of the many sections of the store....
(and notice how well the reflective material in my Olympia pants works!)

Jim, she's got reflective material in her right knee, too.
