I am looking at a 2011 NT700VA with 11K miles. Mechanically the bike is in fantastic shape. Cosmetically it is very rough. The owner had repainted the bike to his favorite sports team's colors. It was a do-it himself job and of course, he botched up a few pieces and broke them. The side panniers' latches are both broken as well.
Anyway, I was wondering about the chances of finding a replacement fairing? I am very tempted to buy it as the price is $1000, and get it painted the original color - black.

Your expert opinions and help is very much appreciated

Partzilla has the cowl parts for the '11 NT700VA. Look in "Middle Cowl" and blow up the parts diagram so you can see what you need. Their prices are about as good as any. $1000 for a mechanically sound bike is an incredible deal. There are lots of ways to use external latches on the panniers.

@Phil Tarman Thank you. I have been surfing Partzilla and eBay for the past few hours  Been reading up on everything I can find here and already read about the external latches. I think I am going to pull the trigger and join the club. This group reminds me of the SOHC4 and F650GS groups that are very helpful.

Is there a file/download section for manuals and such? I am going to need to get my hands on the owner's manual and service manual

Desert, this is a great forum. We've got a lot of members who no longer have NTs, but they stay for the people. You might find a manual for sale here, but I don't think there are any listed here right now. We don't allow downloads because of copyright laws. It's worth checking Ebay.

Welcome Aboard and Welcome from SoCal, Haling from the San Fernando Valley.

I have a right OEM Silver mid-cowl in good shape that I will sell to you for $150 if you are interested in it. Be advised that you will spend about or over $1,300 for both mid-cowl sides, these would be new of course.

Regarding the Pannier latches. There's no way around it and you will need to install external latches like many of us have done. Please check out my thread regarding this subject and read through all my posts only. Brillot2000 - Improved Pannier Latches

Honda is quite protective of their copyrighted material and they scan through forums such as this looking for links to download their shop manuals. Not sure how much sleep I am going to get tonight......going to pick up the bike tomorrow morning :run1:

I am going to need all the help to identify what alls missing/broken from the fairing/body works. Especially the interior of the fairing down by the forks. I will definitely keep your mid-cowl in mind @Brillot2000. Very nice write up on the latches 👍

I am an Electro-Mechanical Engineer by trade. I also get design and build things too. I know my way around the NT very well. I also have some other odds and ends that might be used with your restoration. You might also find this thread interesting to you too. Brillot2000 - NaTalie's Rehab Reveal - Meet DIVA!!!

Sweat dreams...

@Brillot2000 Wow, very nice resto. Love the crash guard, what is it and where can I get one? Lol I think I am going to be in trouble pretty quick with this one 😅

Is Hepco & Becker the only company that is making the crash guard for the NT? It looks quite simple and thinner compared to the one I have on my F650GS but cost more

The NT700V only had low production numbers in 2010-11 so don't be surprised if some accessories are either difficult to find or nonexistent. Accessory companies want a huge return on their investment and the NT didn't offer that promise!

Congrats on the NT. You will find lots of info here and lots of helpful people ...

I just bought parts on : https://www.hondaparts-direct.com/ and felt that they were good on price. Customer service was also good (I ordered 1 gallon oil can, and the actual person packing my order called and confirmed if he could substitute it with 4 1/4 gallon cans for same price, as a big can has more chance of getting damaged in shipping).

Thread with parts websites.

You can download the offical version form Honda Austraila site, ref this thread:

cheers

Unfortunately my research showed this was the only option available for this bike. You are going to have order this item from overseas as there are no other options available here in the USA. The over $400 price tag is quite a deterrent for most people.

As you saw from my Restoration video. Dropping the bike causes a considerable amount of damages to the plastic parts. My insurance company totaled my bike based on the cost of replacing all the plastic pieces. The damage estimate from my insurance company was near or over $4,000. $1,800 of that was purely for all the needed plastic pieces.

Dirtflier is also right regarding the the limited amount of these bikes sold in the USA during the only 2 years it was available, 2010 and 2011. Only really 3 colors were available, Silver, Burgundy, and Pearl Black. Also ABS and Non-ABS models were sold. I could never find Honda’s official sales numbers for the US for this model. The sales were quite dismal I can imagine and lead to it not being sold the preceding years after 2011.

This bike is considered rare and many people have no idea what it is.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you, guys! I am getting ready to hook up the trailer and head out to pick up the bike.

@Moto-Kafe I have to think about posting a pic of the bike..........you guys would think I am crazy for taking on this fugly bike 😅 It is going to take a lot to make the bike cosmetically acceptable. I will have to completely repaint the bike and I am thinking Plasti Dip

@Brillot2000 The cheapest I found was almost $500 shipped. I will look into it again when the bike is all back together. The PO said the bike was black originally and that coincides with the 2011 model. The title listed sold date of January 2012 with 1 mile on the odometer. I imagine the bike sat in the showroom for a while.

@Sunny Thank you. I didn't see Honda Parts Direct when I was searching for parts. Looks like a good place to source a bunch of parts

you can also try vinyl wrapping. It is easier to take off also , in case you want to change colors ...

I have always wanted to learn how to Plasti Dip, it is so much cheaper than a vinyl wrap. You can also peel off Plasti Dip to change color. Although I also want to learn how to vinyl wrap, I think the learning curve is much steeper and costlier than Plasti Dip though

I personally like PartFish.com.

I have quite a bit of used and a few new parts leftover from my restoration that you might be interested in. I noticed you are about 2.5 hours away from me down the I-10 and 210 freeways. A trip down to my place would be quite beneficial to you both parts and information wise. Bring a handful of cash as you will probably be leaving with quite a few items.

Let me know if this interest you. I’ll send you my contact information in a Private Message.

@Brillot2000 Yeah, it is about 2.5 hours out with no traffic. Usually, I can get lucky going on but coming home is usually a 3+ hours drive. I would definitely take you up on your offer once I get to have a closer look at the Fugly
