When I was first out of seminary, I served a church in Jones Creek, TX. Jones Creek was a bedroom community for Dow Chemical employees and all but four of the men in my church worked for Dow. All but two of those men were shift workers. Dow rotated shfits every Tuesday, so my men would work days, then swings, then graves. They never got their sleep rhythms stabilized and always felt like hell.
My schedule, if I had my druthers, would be to go to bed at 1PM, get up around 9, work from 11 till 7, then have time off. But that's a working schedule -- when I retire my schedule will be whatever works for me and whoever I'm with. My schedule when traveling is usually leave from where ever I've spent the night at 8-ish, eat a breakfast somewhere, ride till 7-8ish.
